Eastern Kentucky University
English Language Instruction Program
The EKU English Language Instruction Program (EELI) offers an intensive program of English as a Second Language to non-native speakers of English. It emphasizes academic, real English used interactively as much as possible. The Program's objectives focus on fostering a welcoming, non-threatening language- learning environment. EELI prepares students for study in American colleges and universities and is open to all students wishing to improve their English skills for personal, academic, and professional purposes. Classes cover all the important English language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening - and include extensive orientation to American lifestyles and culture. EELI participants may live on campus in University residence halls and benefit from a number of supportive services, including cross-cultural activities and educational excursions.
